What makes this story so attractive is the sensitive insight into each of the characters. I also liked that both characters are wiser and more mature than the usual regency romance. They have confidence and self assurance that makes their interactions more interesting and genuine. I felt for Maggie as she has put her life on hold because she fears her secret being revealed. And I was glad Benjamin was there as a solid presence for her to ultimately rely on. However, the story suffers from the mystery in the plot which I felt was a bit over dramatic. The payoff behind Maggie's Scandal is a bit lackluster and even disappointing.

The actual conflict between the TimeKeeper Demons and Dragonstar is handled very well and for the first time in the series Faraday does not end up as the proverbial punching bag at the end of the book. That said, I felt that Starman (Book Three - and the original conclusion of the series) did a better job of satisfactorily tying up everything that came before it, despite the somewhat tragic outcome of one of the main characters. I hate being so vague about this, but unfortunately going into too great a detail about the conclusion to this book would result in a pretty big spoiler. That said, the book does leave open the possibility of further sequels for at least a few of the characters, which makes me hopeful for the possibility of a more satisfying conclusion in the future.
Bottom line, if you have read the previous books, there is absolutely no reason not to read this one - you will enjoy it. The series as a whole is very well written and I would highly recommend it.

There's more story going on here, with Rachel's troubled son, Nathan. Also, there is Rachel's fear of completely opening up to Rand, to that real possibility of having it all with him, a man who was only supposed to be for the here-and-now and not for the long-term. This is what they had both agreed on, but you know it's more than that. The sheer sexual chemistry and tension is almost touchable, and all this leads to those very moments when true intimacy and love and trust are created.

So, a great love story develops, but back to the sex. Yes, I'm going back to that terrific sex, that sex with feeling and emotion to it. Some light bondage, some light spanking, some sex on and in a car, but most of all, that one scene where he chases her, grabs her and 'coerces' her (her fantasy)- that totally got me personally. But there's probably one other scene even hotter. This story is incredibly erotic, unbelievably hot and so very bad that it's so good. I loved every sweet, sexy minute of it.

Zoe and Liam are both damaged, and although sometimes you might want to shake some sense into them (Liam especially), their growth takes time and makes sense when it happens. It was a nice twist that in the beginning, it's the heroine that's messed up, although as the book progresses we see that Liam has issues, too. The characters struggle believably to deal with their feelings, intense attraction, and fears, and you can't help but root for them. I also enjoyed the supporting characters and the realistic look at both a tatoo parlor and a bike shop.

My one complaint is that the ending felt rushed this book could easily have been 50 pages longer, although I imagine Harlequin has strict page limits.

Nevertheless, this one is worth seeking out if you love contemporary romance.

The original writings of the Brothers Grimm were no lightweight Disney cartoons, and this story would fit right in. The mood is erotic and dark, the characters are fully developed even in this short read. A reader isn't distracted by the info dumps seen from a less talented author. I'm not a BDSM person myself but I like a well written story in any genre. This one definitely qualifies. Love does win out in the end, when Beauty grows enough to realize what other people think is irrelevant, she needs to be true to herself and the one she loves.

This book, while not short, is by no means a long read with a Kindle count of just over 1800. For a complete story, I won't complain about paying $4.99. But to realize that I need to drop another $5 to get the rest of the story is just plain aggravating. I rarely think an e-book is worth $10. I went to the publishers site and purchased the continuation of the story "Shane's Fury" and was able to get the whole story but crimeny, while I enjoyed the story, I'm just plain mad at being hogtied into paying for the second book. Which I might add was about half the size of the first one. So yeah, author and publisher accomplished what they set out to do with my purchases - increasing their sales. Unfortunately, I will definitely be wary of future offerings by either the author or publisher.

So before you buy, think to yourself, do you want to pay $10 for this story? Cause you're going to have to if you want to read the entire thing.

As for the story ... yes, it was enjoyable. Yes, it was a nice addition to the Lost Shifter series. Yes, I'm glad I was able to read it in its entirety. But had I knew beforehand that I was going to be dropping $10 for the thing, I seriously think I might have thought about skipping it completely.
